I get it we get busy we get tired and sometimes we just don 39 t want to cook so here is my favorite lazy way of cooking quick easy fat free refried beans in case you 39 re wondering i do have a few refried bean recipes where i make them from dried beans a stovetop version and an instant pot version and they are amazing and taste
Bring beans to a low boil reduce to low and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes mash by hand with a potato masher or let cool slightly transfer to a mini food processor and pulse until desired consistency taste and season with more salt if desired transfer back to pan and keep warm over low heat
Ingredients 1 14 oz can no salt added kidney pinto or black beans drained or 1 3 4 cups cooked beans 1 t onion powder 1 2 t garlic powder 1 4 t ground cumin 1 4 t low sodium soy sauce or braggs liquid aminos freshly ground black pepper to taste directions place ingredients into a food processor and pulse until smooth
Remove from the heat and drain the beans place the beans in the slow cooker insert and cover them with about 2 inches of water add the salt onion garlic and jalapeno cover and cook on high for 4 6 hours i haven t tried it but you could experiment by cooking on low for 8 10 hours
Instructions cook the beans in a saucepan with some water the water must cover the beans for a few minutes until they 39 re hot drain the beans and place them in a mixing bowl with the rest of the ingredients and blend with an immersion blender you can also use a potato masher store in the fridge in a sealed container for up to 4 days
Sauté until soft approx 4 5 minutes adding more broth or water if needed to prevent sticking then add the garlic and the spices mix well and cook another 30 seconds next add the pinto beans and the remaining ¾ cup of broth to the pan and simmer for 5 minutes until the liquid is mostly reduced
Add the ingredients combine the soaked and drained beans water onion and garlic in the instant pot stir to submerge the beans then add the lid and turn the steam release valve to sealing pressure cook on high pressure for 20 minutes
Instructions sauté the onion and optional jalapeño turn on the sauté function and let the inner pot become warm once warm add 1 tablespoon of water or broth can use olive oil if not making fat free add the diced onion and jalapeño if using and sauté for 5 minutes stirring occasionally
Drain and rinse pinto beans and save ¼ cup of juice from beans for blending place all ingredients into a food processor pulse a few times to combine the ingredients scrape down sides if needed add a little of the saved bean juice and blend
Instructions drain pinto beans but reserve 1 4 cup of the liquid dump pinto beans bouillon garlic powder onion powder reserve liquid and picante sauce into a medium saucepan bring mixture to simmer stirring often lower heat and allow mixture to simmer covered for 5 to 10 minutes or until beans are soft
Gather all ingredients place beans onion jalapeño garlic salt pepper and cumin into a slow cooker pour in water stir to combine cook on high until beans are very tender about 8 hours add more water as needed strain beans and reserve cooking liquid
Bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer cover and simmer 3 4 hrs or until extremely tender add more water as needed to prevent scorching drain and set aside in a large skillet saute veggies in a few tbs of water until softened add 1 to 1 ½ cups of cooked beans and the spices stir well to mix
Drain the soaked beans and combine them with water onion and garlic in the instant pot secure the lid and move the steam release valve to seal select manual pressure cook to cook at high pressure for 20 minutes when the cooking cycle is complete let the pressure naturally release for 10 minutes then move the steam release valve to vent
Directions rinse and sort beans soak beans in the 6 cups water for 24 hours do not discard this water bring to a strong simmer cover and continue strong simmer for 2 to 2 1 2 hours or until beans are tender add salt at this point only
Instructions add all of the ingredients into your food processor process for 30 seconds to a minutes or until all of the beans have been processed into a smooth and thick refried beans consistency
To soak beans overnight put beans in large container and cover generously with water soak for at least 8 hours drain and rinse with fresh water when ready to cook for a quick soak add 6 cups of water to 2 cups of beans in a large pan over high heat bring to boil and boil for 3 minutes
Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker cook on low 12 hours or high 8 hours add more water if necessary remove and discard bay leaf drain beans reserving broth mash beans by hand with a potato masher adding broth as necessary to achieve desired consistency discard unused broth or use in other recipes
