Beer And Banana Bread Recipe
At some point in your life you'll have bananas on the verge of spoiling and there's no better use than this Guinness beer banana bread!
There was a period in my life where Guinness was my go-to weekday beer. I liked it because it was flavorful, but also relatively light. One day I had some old bananas in my pantry and this Guinness Beer Banana Bread just happened. Definitely worth posting!

Since moving to Colorado my stout preferences have changed a bit and now I like a few local stouts more (like Left Hand’s Milk Stout to buzz market one). But, I still like to cook with Guinness! It’s easy to add to recipes and gives them a nice subtle sweetness and maltybackground.
Best Butter Topped Beer Bread
It’s a particularly nice touch in this Beer Banana Bread. Not that banana breads tend to be dry, but this version is particularly moist. The beer + butter combo also makes the crust a bit crackly and crunchy which I like. I put in some white chocolate chips as well because why not right?
At some point in your life you’ll have bananas on the verge of spoiling and there’s no better use than a good banana bread! This one uses Guinness and has white chocolate folded in!

Sourdough Beer Bread
You’ll need like three very ripe bananas for this recipe. Mine were so ripe that Betsy almost threw them out. I had plans though!
The beer is a perfect addition to banana bread. It adds some moisture but it also adds some natural leavening to the bread.
I actually think you could use other stouts if Guinness isn’t your thing, but just make sure your beer is malty and not hoppy. You don’t want any hop bitterness in this bread.
Peanuts & Beer Banana Bread
Stir everything together and then fold in the melted butter and chocolate chips if you’re using them. You could use any chocolate chips or just leave them out entirely. It’s a flexible situation.

Then pour your batter into a prepared 9×5 loaf pan. Prepare the pan by rubbing it with soft butter and dusting it with flour.
Work quickly at this point so the bubbles in the beer and the baking soda don’t all die before the loaf starts baking. You don’t have to run, but don’t leave this on the counter for 20 minutes. Have your oven pre-heated and ready to go.

Pop this in a 350 degrees F. oven for 60-65 minutes. It’s hard to overcook it honestly. It’s done with a tester comes out clean and the crust is browned and crackling.
Most importantly, when the banana beer bread comes out of the oven, let it cool in the pan for a few minutes and then remove it. Then let it cool for another 10 minutes or so to set up completely before slicing and serving it!I’m super into (very trashed up, very non-traditional) Octoberfest recipes because right now I’m currently in the midst of what is probably the only craving I’ve had this entire pregnancy and that’s homemade soft pretzels and beer cheese dip.

GAH. I want all those things for every meal right now. I’ve only had them once! I need them once more time before labor, right?
Simple Beer Bread Recipe
That really has nothing to do with this bread aside from the fact that it is beer bread and the pretzels are also bread and there is beer in the cheese I’m craving and and and… I’ll stop.
I’ve made a few different beer breads before on the blog and as I was contemplating one this year, I alllllmost went with another savory version. Like last year’s pumpkin cider bacon cheddar one. But then I was like WHAT IF. What if I did a sweeter one? A banana one?
Plus, I was already tempted because I had this Banana Bread beer in our fridge! It’s been there for, like, nine months at this point, but I mean… it was still okay. Right? RIGHT?

Easy Beer Bread
The thing that I really like about beer bread is its dipping factor. It’s SO SO SO good dipped in soup and chilis, you know? I love that about it because it tends to be hearty and dense but flavorful and fluffy all at the same time. So I was nervous about that part when it came to the banana bread.
Here’s the key: brown butter glaze. The brown butter glaze makes up for any lack of dipping. I also think that a cinnamon butter would be AMAZING when spread on top, so there is that too. Sometimes beer bread is just so, well… bready, that is can almost occasionally verge on the dry side when you have a big mouthful. Hence the reason for dipping! And the glaze and butter.
