Easy Pasta Recipes Without Chicken Broth
Best of all, this pasta recipe is ready in minutes (literally!) Add in some rotisserie chicken or even grilled shrimp or scallops.
PASTA: Any medium pasta is great but try to choose one with holes, tubes, or ridges to hold the creamy garlic sauce. Penne, mostaccioli, shells, fusilli, or rotini work well.

GARLIC: Fresh garlic is our favorite in this recipe. The cloves should be minced or use a garlic press to make it fast. If you don’t have fresh garlic, you can use garlic powder but the flavor is more subtle (you’ll need about 1 teaspoon or to taste).

SAUCE: Butter, heavy whipping cream, chicken broth, and melted parmesan cheese give this sauce a rich and creamy texture. Ensure you’re using heavy cream (or whipping cream) so the sauce thickens well.
Creamy garlic pasta is a crowd-pleasing recipe that goes with so many sides and salads. Garlic Cheese Toast, rolls, or even focaccia bread are always great with pasta.
If you do not have fresh garlic, you can replace it with 1 teaspoon of garlic powder (or more or less to taste).

It is important to cook the sauce in a skillet (at least 10 wide) so it will thicken properly, it doesn't reduce as well in a saucepan.
If you do not have a skillet you may need to simmer the sauce for longer or add a cornstarch slurry to thicken it before adding the pasta and cheese.

High Protein Creamy Chicken + Veggie Pasta
Enjoyed by my whole family (all of us always go for seconds), this simple creamy penne is similar to fettuccine alfredo but more garlicky and not quite as heavy.
But one of the best parts about this recipe is how easy it is to modify. Sometimes I’ll add some peas or mushrooms and sliced chicken breast to make it feel like a more well-rounded, complete meal. Most of the time, however, I’ll just cozy up with a big bowl of this out-of-this-world creamy garlic penne with nothing more than a generous dusting of freshly grated parmesan cheese and maybe (probably) a glass of wine.

It’s really easy to make this creamy, luscious homemade white sauce. You’ll need a large pan or skillet and the following ingredients (exact measurements are in the recipe card at the bottom of the post):
Creamy Tuscan Chicken Pasta
Start by melting the butter in your pan or skillet. Once melted, whisk in the flour, creating a thick roux. Allow the roux to cook for a minute before adding the garlic, followed by the veggie broth or chicken broth (you can even add white wine) and lemon juice. Mix well to combine. Stir in the cream and simmer for a minute or two before adding the parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
Once the penne is cooked, reserve at least 1 cup of hot salted pasta water before draining. Use the reserved pasta water to thin the sauce if it becomes too thick.
Perfect any time of the year, I especially love serving this creamy penne with a small green salad, fruit salad, juicy chicken breast, or maybe even some yummy roasted asparagus.

As much as I love eating vegetables and healthy stuff, it's much more common for me to really want something comforting — bean & cheese quesadilla, mashed potatoes, burgers, and pasta. Mashed potatoes and burgers usually require too much effort (especially when I'm like I NEED COMFORT FOOD STAT!). If, for some crazy reason, I am out of the necessary ingredients (tortillas, beans, cheese) to make a bean & cheese quesadilla: PASTA! Or, if I've already had a quesadilla that day: PASTA! Or, if I'm living in Asia and have yet to find good refried beans and cheddar: PASTA!
Since we started our travels in Asia, eight months ago, I've had one constant when it comes to comfort food — garlic! Pretty much every mid-level restaurant in Vietnam, as well as the other countries we've visited, has garlic bread on the menu. It's cheap, it's hard to mess up, and it totally fulfills my I miss home and need comfort! craving. So, when I made this pasta, I wanted it to be
All in all, this sauce comes together really quickly. First, melt the butter and add the garlic. Let it cook for a minute or so, really getting that garlicky flavor into the butter. Then BLEND IT UP! I didn't want any garlic chunks in my pasta — this is a smooth creamy sauce, remember? Blend up the butter and garlic, then return it to the pan to make a quick roux before adding the milk or cream to finish the sauce.

Once the sauce and pasta are both done, toss them together and enjoy a ridiculously garlicky, creamy, comforting meal. Did I mention you need to like garlic? You definitely need to like garlic. Since I'm on such a garlic train here, help me out: what are your favorite garlic dishes? Or comfort foods in general? I can't really drown myself in creamy garlic butter pasta every day (or can I?) so... gimme ideas!!
This creamy, garlicky pasta is ready in less than 15 minutes and SO easy to throw together! If you want quick comfort food, look no further!

When adding flour to the butter, make sure to cook it long enough or it will taste like flour. While adding milk, take your time pouring it slowly and whisk constantly or it may have lumps.
FREEZE.If you plan to freeze this dish, leave the pasta undercooked as the freezing process will make thoroughly cooked pasta mushy. Store the cooked dish in a freezer-safe airtight container for months.

Variations. Try adding cubed grilled chicken, chicken sausage, diced ham or shrimp for protein, or adding vegetables like halved cherry tomatoes or steamed asparagus, broccoli, bell peppers, or mushrooms. You can also change up the flavoring with spices and herbs such as red chili flakes (for heat), dried Italian seasoning, and fresh basil or parsley.
