Best Vegan Blue Cheese Dressing Recipe

Best Vegan Blue Cheese Dressing Recipe

Vegan blue cheese dressing with that signature blue cheese tang and a chunky blue cheese texture. Perfect as a dip or dressing!

It also comes together in minutes because it’s just a case of adding some ingredients to a jug, whisking them up and then adding in the surprise ingredient for the ‘chunky’ part.

You will find full instructions and measurements in the recipe card at the bottom of the post. This is a summary of the process to go along with the process photos.

Vegan mayonnaise. The base of this recipe is vegan mayonnaise. You can use a store-bought variety or you can go ahead and make your own vegan mayo. I used a store-bought variety for making this as even though making your own vegan mayo is super easy, I wanted to make this as easy as possible, so store-bought was the way forward.

Nutritional yeast. This contributes to the cheesiness but you don’t taste it at all in the final result, so only leave this out if you really

Distilled white vinegar. This is essential to the cheesy tang and I highly recommend you use exactly this kind of vinegar. Apple cider vinegar will not work the same, though if it’s all you can get, you can use it in a pinch.

Extra firm tofu. You can leave out the tofu if you prefer. If you don’t like tofu or just don’t like the idea, leave it out. Quite honestly the tofu doesn’t taste like tofu here, it takes on the flavor of the dressing so just creates texture, but if you leave it out that’s all that you’ll lose – texture.

Of course you can play around with the flavors here if you’re the experimental type and tweak it perfectly to your tastes.

OK, so quick back story: The other day I was in a HUGE dilemma. I wanted to eat a healthy salad, but I was craving my Vegan Blue Cheese Dip. Ok, ok, so this dilemma is not that huge, but this is what happens when you spend 90% of your time thinking about food. I'm all about indulging those cravings, but when it comes to salad, I do prefer it to keep it on the healthier side of meals (it is salad after all). And although it's super delicious my vegan blue cheese dip wouldn't be the healthiest option.

Vegan

Instead of vegan mayonnaise, I use soft or silken tofu in this recipe. Soft tofu lacks a lot of oomf so I had to bump up the flavor of the dressing to the perfect level of vegan blue cheese dressing tanginess. A little playing around, and success. Ooooeeee is it good! Mission complete.

Add all the ingredients, except the dill and crumbled tofu, to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Now you can add the dill and crumbled tofu (if using), and stir or pulse a few times to combine. That's it! Done! Finito! Easy.

The dressing can be stored in an air-tight jar in the fridge for up to one week. Pour over or toss into your favourite salad.

And I think I may have done it! Here ya’ go, people – a vegan blue cheese dressing made from… RAW TAHINI. This is a great recipe for those who are vegan wanting that cheesy fix, or for the lactose intolerant, or even just the vegan-curious.

Healthy Blue Cheese Dressing

This is an incredibly easy-to-make vegan blue cheese dressing recipe using raw tahini and raw cashews. Combine them together with acids like lemon juice and white wine vinegar, along with dill, nutritional yeast, garlic powder & onion powder, to make one lavish salad topper! It’s very simple, but also very effective. Add some soaked raw cashews for that crumbly blue cheese texture, and

As always with dressings, you can add a little more or a little less of each ingredient to reach a desired texture or viscosity, as well as seasoned taste. Here are some tips if you do need to adjust.

And do consider before you adjust the right thickness/thinness you need for whatever you’re going to want to use this dressing on. i.e.

Vegan Blue Cheese Dressing Made With Tofu And Cashews, Oil Free

It’s pretty important that you use raw tahini for this vegan blue cheese dressing recipe. Roasted tahini not only has a darker color, but also a more bitter flavor, and it may throw you out of the blue cheese-y flavor illusion. Therefore, raw tahini – milder in flavor and lighter in color – is the best kind to use.

Granted, raw tahini can sometimes be hard to find. At times, you can find it at more natural markets, and many of them even make their own. If you can’t find it anywhere, you can either use roasted tahini, or you can make your own raw tahini from sesame seeds – up to you!

I hope that you enjoy this vegan blue cheese dressing recipe. If you do, consider leaving me a recipe rating and/or comment!

(did you just read that in her warbly voice? Because I totally did). I would wish for the ability to go back in time when I ate all the non-vegan things, and take extremely detailed notes about the flavours, textures, and what could possibly taste similar in the vegan cooking world.

One of the more challenging things I do for my recipes is to try and recall tastes that I last had over 4 years ago if not longer! I have done this with my nacho cheese, mozzarella cheese, and cheese ball, but also in meatier type recipes such as my chili, and my bolognese, and even in desserts when making peanut butter cups, and pumpkin pie. Let me tell you, replicating flavours from memory is tough stuff, and it always has me digging through my fridge and pantry tasting random things, looking for the perfect missing flavour.

There are few things more exciting when people exclaim that my recipe tastes just like the non-vegan version or EVEN BETTER! Woot! Joy.

This vegan blue cheese dip is tangy, creamy, a little tart, full of umami, and even has chunks of cheesy(ish) goodness throughout. Best yet, it only requires 6 ingredients and can be whipped up in under 5 minutes. Just add everything to a bowl, stir, enjoy. My kinda recipe!
