Classic Vanilla Panna Cotta Vanilla Panna Cotta is a classic Italian dessert that we serve cold. It's fantastic with berries and a great recipe to make ahead for your guests or family.
Jernej says that the only thing that can make this Panna Cotta better is a prettier view than our messy kitchen and a glass of cold rosé. I agree. This Italian dessert is well known all over the world. In direct translation, Panna Cotta means cooked cream, and that’s precisely what it is. Delicious cooked cream. It’s perfect for hot summer days, especially since we need to serve it cold. But worry not, this dessert is terrific in wintertime too. If you want to make it cozier, switch the fruits for some homemade salty caramel. It takes minutes to make, and those hours of waiting for it to cool will be well worth your while.

Honestly, we could eat it with a spoon without any toppings or decorations. It's sweet, milky, and tasty. However, it's even better with macerated or fresh berries. Here are some other delicious options for toppings:
Buttermilk Vanilla Panna Cotta
Defrost by taking it out of the freezer one day before serving. Place it in the fridge to defrost slowly. Or place it at room temperature for about 2 hours, and then put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

It's a rich, smooth and luxurious custard usually flavoured with vanilla and set with gelatin to give it a very delicate 'wobble'.
Although Panna Cotta has the reputation of being a complicated dessert you'd see in a fancy restaurant it's actually unbelievably easy to make.

Healthy Low Fat Vanilla Panna Cotta Made With Greek Yoghurt — Gourmet Mum
Put the milk, cream and vanilla in a saucepan and bring to a boil (watch it carefully so it doesn’t over boil). Once boiling turn off the heat (photo 1).
Note: A skin can form on the top of the panna cotta from the milk. If this happens you can easily remove it with a spoon while the panna cotta is still liquid although it’s entirely optional and doesn’t have to be removed.

It's super easy to remove the Panna Cotta from their moulds. Use a knife to gently remove the panna cotta from the edges of the mould (photo 5).
Vanilla Panna Cotta Recipe — Chef Iso
Fill a bowl with hot water and place them one at a time into the water for a few seconds. Don't leave it for more than 10 seconds in the water or it'll start to melt (photo 6).
Our Panna Cotta recipe has a rich, smooth and velvety texture with a delicate vanilla flavour. There's enough gelatin added so it's just set enough to keep its shape with the perfect wobble. Panna Cotta should never be rubbery, it's a sign that too much gelatin has been added.
Gelatin is an animal product and is not vegetarian-friendly. If you want to use something that is I suggest using agar agar.
Panna Cotta Recipe
Yes, you can. You'll need to soak the gelatin sheets in water to soften them before using. It's best to check your packet instructions for the conversion as certain brands may vary but I find 3 gelatin sheets work well.

Panna cotta is such a deceiving dessert. It looks incredibly beautiful and so elegant, and yet it’s one of the easiest desserts you’ll make! It’s one of those desserts that will make your guests go “Woah!”
Original Italian Panna Cotta Recipe
Making panna cotta is so simple and effortless and you only need a few standard ingredients. In this post, I’m teaching you everything you need to know to make the perfect vanilla panna cotta. Read on!
. It’s made with flavoured cream and gelatin, and then refrigerated till it sets. If you cook your cream right, that’s half the job done. In this panna cotta recipe, we’re using vanilla bean as the star of the dish.
The best way to incorporate the vanilla flavour is with a Vanilla bean. We tested the recipe with vanilla extract as well, but the results were vastly different. The flavour was more prominent with a vanilla bean, and those specks of vanilla through the panna cotta were just gorgeous! Make sure you use a good quality bean. It should be pliable when you try to bend it (this indicates the bean isn’t very old). Watch the video to see how to scrape out vanilla from the bean. When the vanilla is cooked with cream and milk, all those vanilla-ey flavours seep into the mixture, so that there is an explosion of vanilla in your mouth.
Vegan Panna Cotta
To demould panna cotta, use a palette knife or paring knife to gently release the edges of the panna cotta from the mould. This is an important step - it helps to keep the panna cotta in one piece while demoulding! Place the moulds in warm (but not boiling) water for 6-8 seconds, and then rest it on the counter for another 5-10 seconds. The warmth from the water helps to free up the panna cotta from the mould and demoulding becomes super easy! Flip the mould over a plate and demould. If it doesn’t come out on the first try, dip it in warm water again for a few seconds.
