Easy Cake Mix Cookies With Butter
There is no need for the creaming method for these Cake Mix Cookies! Simply dump all the ingredients into a bowl and mix away. Make sure to scrape the sides of the bowl and mix out all of the lumps, though a few small lumps are totally fine! For full recipe details check out the recipe card down below!
In a large bowl, stir cake mix together with oil, eggs and vanilla extract. This is where you can mix in your add-ins too. (See notes below about that.)
Bake your cookies until they have puffed up and edges are barely brown. You aren’t going for browned cookies, they should look matte and a little crackly on top.

Pro Tip: Store leftovers in a zip top bag with a piece of bread in it (to keep them soft) for up to 3 days.
One of the funnest parts about making Cake Mix Cookies is customizing them! You can do this by changing the cake mix flavor and/or adding mix-ins!
Any flavor of cake mix will do to make these cake mix cookies! I stuck to the Betty Crocker 15.25 oz boxes and as you can see above, I bought three different flavors. A basic plain white cake mix, rainbow chip, and chocolate! As long as you’re using a 15 oz box of cake mix, this recipe will work perfectly regardless of flavor.

These easy cake mix cookies, however, are the best of both worlds because they taste like your favorite slice of birthday cake, only in a chewy and adorably handheld form. Even better, they're made with just five ingredients and require little prep work (the only thing you need to measure is the cinnamon!), so even beginner bakers can pull a picture-perfect batch out of the oven in 25 minutes.
Not a vanilla cake with sprinkles type of person? Don't fret. This recipe works well with just about any kind of cake mix. Simply omit the ground cinnamon if its flavor will clash with the main vibe of your cookie. (We'd skip it for fruity mixes like lemon and strawberry, for example). In place of the rainbow sprinkles, feel free to play around with mix-ins like chocolate chips, mini-M&, M's, nuts, and even crushed pretzels or potato chips.
Ignore the directions on the back of the box. For cookies with a snickerdoodle-like texture, add 1 stick melted butter and two large eggs to the cake mix. The dough will be perfectly scoop-able and with a cookie (or small ice cream) scoop, will drop easily onto your parchment paper-lined baking sheet. If you prefer a crispier cookie, add only one egg to the mixing bowl. This firmer dough will bake up best when scooped and rolled into balls.

If the dough feels too loose after beating together all the ingredients, let it rest for five to 10 minutes before scooping. (As the butter cools, the dough will firm up and the liquids will hydrate the cake mix.)
