Lime Hummus Recipe
Who likes hummus? Who likes guacamole? If you answered yes to both then I have the perfect mash-up of these two flavors all combined into one delicious dip, Avocado Lime Hummus! It might sound a little strange, but it’s actually the perfect combination.
The flavors of guacamole are what you will first notice in the hummus. Avocado, lime juice, garlic, cumin, chili powder, and cilantro. Then because this is a mash-up quite literally there is a can of garbanzo beans and a little olive oil to give it that thick, creamy hummus quality. The beans also add a good amount of healthy protein making this dip perfect for snacking, spreading on a sandwich or wrap, or even dolloping on top of a burrito bowl like you would with guacamole.

The Avocado Lime Hummus is not only delicious, but a quick and easy appetizer to throw together at the last minute. All of the ingredients are added to a blender or food processor and puréed until smooth, or a little less if you like your hummus on the chunkier side. I chose not to use tahini in this hummus and less olive oil because that’s how I normally make my hummus, not to mention the avocado adds plenty of healthy fat, flavor, and richness.

This hummus is gluten free, vegetarian, and a perfect option to put out at a party. Instead of serving the hummus with tortilla chips like you would with guacamole, or pita chips like you would with hummus, I decided to use a box of Blue Diamond Flax Seed and Multi-Seed Artisan Nut Thins. The crackers are crisp, full of nutty and seedy flavor, and seasoned with just the right amount of salt. They hold up well when you dip them into the hummus and you won’t lose half the cracker when you pull it out (I hate when that happens). Blue Diamond Artisan Nut Thins compliment this guacamole inspired hummus perfectly not only with flavor, but also because they too are gluten free. Cheers to this healthy, mash-up hummus that everyone can enjoy!
In a blender or food processor add all of the ingredients reserving 1/4 cup of the water. Purée the mixture until smooth adding in more water if the hummus is too thick.Serve the hummus with crackers.

Chipotle Hummus Recipe
It’s the depth of winter here in Indianapolis, with lots of gray skies, snow and rain. Though we’ve had lots of fun things to celebrate this month (the birth of ourPretty Simple Cooking cookbook, my birthday, and Larson’s birthday), we are still craving fresh flavors. This ginger lime hummus kicks up the hummus game with fresh, Asian-style flavors: ginger, lime, garlic, and soy sauce. And speaking of “pretty simple, ” this one is actually ultra simple: just throw 6 ingredients into a food processor and blend!
Why make your own hummus? Store bought hummus can be expensive, and we find the flavor in more inexpensive brands sometimes can be oversalted or too garlicky. But the real reason we do it: it’s fun! Every time we make it at home, I find myself enjoying it more because we made it with our own two hands.

Some of the ingredients in this ginger lime hummus recipe are pretty standard: chickpeas, garlic, salt, and tahini. What is tahini?Tahini is a paste made of sesame seeds, typically used in Middle Eastern or Mediterranean dishes. It’s purely sesame seeds and salt! Outside of hummus, tahini perfect for making creamy sauces for salads and Buddha bowls…and even cookies.
